I use design to solve problems…
Hi. I’m Jill Jennings…a friendly, professional designer and photographer specializing in functional websites, clean logos, and vibrant product photography for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profits. Everyday we are required to solve problems at home and at work. We all use different tools to help us accomplish this. I use design to solve problems.
I believe good design serves an important role in society. Everyone knows it can promote products for big companies like Nike and Coca Cola, but it can also work wonders for small start-ups that no one has ever heard of (hasn’t heard of YET). Major corporations can afford to spend millions on slick advertising campaigns, but successful design shouldn’t be reserved for the “big guys” only. We all have something important to say, and with the right amount of forethought and direction, it can be pure poetry. Good design can bring order and clarity to a complicated concept. It can promote an amazing product. It can share the joy and excitement of an upcoming event.
What do you have to say? Let me help you say it.Now the boring stuff…
I earned my BA degree from Houghton College where I majored in art with a concentration in ceramics. Initially I planned to concentrate in graphic design, so I took lots of design classes, but ultimately, I couldn’t resist the allure of the clay.
After graduation, I worked in the pottery field for about a year until finally deciding to pursue a career in graphic design. It seems the allure of the clay was being silenced by my fascination with topography and beautiful, functional design.
I soon found myself working as a designer in the fast-paced world of advertising and eventually decided to try to make a go of it on my own. In 2006 I started designing under the name Fierce Girl Design. It’s been a long road to get to this place, but I’ve learned so much along the way. I’m so thankful to be here.
